Our Story

We are Gregg, Lisa, and Delaney Alves, and we’d like to share our journey. We chose to settle in Estacada in the fall of 2007, shortly after the birth of our second daughter, Reagan Christine. At that time, Delaney was nine years old and began fourth grade at Clackamas River Elementary. However, our story begins long before this.

Gregg and I married in 1995 and welcomed Delaney into our lives in 1998. After a couple of years, we were eager to grow our family. Unfortunately, it was much more challenging the second time around, and we endured the heartbreak of seven miscarriages before our luck finally changed. We were overjoyed to be pregnant with Reagan. Born on May 19, 2007, Reagan's arrival was fraught with complications that threatened both her life and mine. In a remarkable turn of events, Reagan made a move that saved us both, and she was born a healthy baby. Given the rarity of such an outcome, the nurses affectionately dubbed her our “Angel Baby.”

Reagan was a spirited child who completed our family beautifully. We spent the following years immersed in the activities that bind families—school, sports, coaching, work, creating memories, and loving and supporting one another. Tragically, our lives took an unimaginable turn.

We were devastated to lose our sweet Reagan in a car accident on May 31, 2021, just 12 days after her fourteenth birthday. She had spent that day joyfully with friends, basking in the warm, sunny weather. She texted us moments before the accident to say she was almost home. Minutes later, our worst fears were realized—Reagan never made it home. Our Angel Baby had gone to heaven.

Reagan touched every life she encountered, be it animals, people, or especially the underdogs. She was highly competitive, intelligent, and fiercely loyal to her loved ones. She approached everything with tenacity and passion, never leaving a room without expressing her love. Descriptions of her often include words like devoted, brilliant, intense, perceptive, headstrong, free-spirited, and a tender-hearted leader.

In honor of her spirit, we established the Reagan Christine Memorial Fund. Our goal is to raise funds to assist the underserved and deserving children in the Estacada and Lakeview, Oregon communities. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and 100% of your donations are tax-deductible.

Thank you for taking the time to listen and for helping us continue Reagan’s mission to lovingly support others.  EIN:  87-4135241

There isn’t a day, minute, or second that goes by that we don’t think of Reagan and the hole her absence has left in our family. This Memorial Fund gives our grief a place of love and possibility.
